BURBERRY, since 1856, is a British fashion brand well-known aroundthe world. The brand manufactures clothing, fashion accessories and fragrances. The tartan pattern embossed in the brand has been widely recognised. Burberry is famous for its trench coat, invented by founder Thomas Burberry.

This year, Burberry Body became a part of Burberry. Burberry Body is the next chapter in 155 years of Burberry history and is the Burberry world translated into a scent, embodying all the qualities of the modern global British brand. It reflects the attitude and energy of the Burberry girl. “We have been working on this for a few years now. Burberry Body for us is so much more than a fragrance. It is the biggest launch we have ever done, one that captures all the modernity and heritage of this British brand today, reflecting all the facets that make up the Burberry world. We wanted to create something iconic, unique and special – placing the attitude and energy of the trench coat at the centre - connecting everything we do from music, collections, touch, scent, our stores, online platforms and communities. We are uniting all our audiences and giving them a very distinctive point of view,” said Christopher Bailey, Burberry Chief Creative Officer.

The fragrance is a multi-faceted, iconic glass bottle with rose gold engraved check made with the same craft, intensity and modernity of the trench coat. It was designed by Christopher himself and he said, “I often describe Burberry as a multi-faceted diamond and so it seemed completely natural that a fragrance that represents all of the different moods, attitudes and expressions of the brand is packaged in a jewel-like shape. The colours reflect the sensual and emotive nature of the scent. I wanted the bottle to be desirable as an object, not only because of the scent. I am always inspired by architecture and I wanted to translate the sensuality of the fragrance using these gentle rose gold and nude filters into something iconic and distinctive.”

According to Christopher, the fragrance is very British and is the most sensual and feminine fragrance Burberry has ever worked on. He described it as sophisticated, modern and delicate. The fragrance is made up from a combination of ingredients that begins with notes of fresh green absinthe, illuminating elegant peach and refined freesia. The floral bouquet of natural rose absolute and iris blends gently with subtle warm tones of sandalwood to form the heart notes.
Christopher explained further, “We wanted it to be light and feminine but also distinctive - something that appeals to women regardless of their age, it’s more of an attitude. The effortlessly sensual notes of rose and iris combined with woody top notes create this iconic scent which is unmistakably British.”

The Burberry Body is effortlessly sensual, beautiful British and embodies the spirit of Burberry. The campaign shot for the brand is a multi faceted campaign with multiple images each conveying a different attitude of the Burberry Body. In other words, it conveys the warmth and sensuality of the fragrance. Burberry’s iconic trench coat was used to reflect the spirit and attitude of the Burberry girl.

Twenty-four-year-old British actress and model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley became the first Burberry Body, “Rosie is this beautiful, sensual English rose and perfectly captures the spirit of Burberry. She has this perfect balance of sensuality and confidence with humility. Burberry is part of her history and it felt perfectly natural for her to be our first Burberry Body.”

Christopher concluded by describing the tactile texture of the packaging reflecting the fabric of the iconic Burberry trench coat, almost as if the packaging was the trench coat wrapping the Burberry girl and protecting her from the elements. The primary rose gold colour was chosen as a very symbolic multiple connotations and something that is part of Burberry icons.
The colour palette of Burberry Body range is nude (Eau de Parfum Intense), pale nude (Eau de Parfum) and white (Body Milk and Body Oil).
